My painting explores the figurative tradition; it travels along our search for identity and meaning. I have an urge to both create and destroy, for me painting is a record of the journey of my mind, body, and spirit. I’m never quite sure about the content of my work. It deals with vulnerability, fragility, and submission. It conjures up childhood and adult images of my relationships with my mother, the church, my husband, and other persons all intrude themselves into my imagery. The surfaces of my paintings are like excavations. From these excavations my figures come to life.
